Whilst enjoying a day out or taking a short break in Northumberland you will be captivated by the charming village of Simonburn and the surrounding countryside. The delights of the Tearoom and garden are matched only by the warm welcome and personal attention from Soraya and her staff. A stroll through the village brings you to St Mungo s 13th Century Church historically known as the Mother Church of the North Tyne Valley. You may even recognise some of the picturesque village green and surrounding houses that were used in the making of several of the Catherine Cookson films! Simonburn boasts an idyllic rural location but is still within 30 minutes of the Metro Centre at Gateshead rural escape and retail therapy in one day. Hadrian s Wall is a comfortable two and a half miles walk from Simonburn. The National Byway Loop Cycle Route that uses Hexham as its base is a 23 mile round trip easily achievable in one day and includes Simonburn in its sign-posted route. Northumberland National Park has recently achieved the Darkest Skies in Europe status and Simonburn has one of the darkest skies from our beautiful windows you can see an amazing array of stars in the night sky. The newly opened Sandstone Way cycle route comes through Simonburn. We welcome cyclists and have barns available for bike storage and a drying room. We are only 45 minutes away from Kielder Forest and the Kielder Observatory. Bookings can be made on line for an evening with the stars. The Bird of Prey centre is only a 10 minute drive from ourselves where you can have the experiance of handling birds of prey and owls.
