The picturesque and popular village of Grasmere, situated on the A591 north south route through the Lake District National Park area, makes an ideal holiday base for any type of leisure break. It is close to Ambleside to the south, at the head of Windermere, and on the way to Penrith or Keswick, the northern Lakes centre. Grasmere Lake and Rydal Water are nearby as are the mountains of Helvellyn, Skiddaw and the Langdale Pikes. The Grasmere area has many self catering opportunities in terms of cottages, usually stone built and often in the village and terraced, normally with a maximum of six beds, individual holiday apartments and bigger houses which can accommodate larger groups.
